IMEI and serial number tracking for Pakistani dealers

When every phone, motorcycle or generator has its own number, a stock count of '12 pieces' is not enough. The Lots & Serials add-on records the serial of each unit and the customer who bought it.

A serial for every unit

Record IMEI, engine number, chassis number, or a field you define, for each unit in stock.

Captured at sale

The serial is picked on the invoice, so the bill shows exactly which unit the customer took.

Which customer got this serial?

Search a serial and see the sale, the customer and the date at once. Warranty and theft questions get a fast answer.

Lot-wise trading

Open a lot when you buy, sell it down, and close it when it is finished.

Profit per lot

Each lot shows its own profit and loss, so you know which purchase actually made money.

Why serial numbers matter in your trade

A mobile shop in Hall Road or Saddar sells phones that look identical in the box. A motorcycle dealer sells bikes of the same model and colour. What makes each unit different is a number: the IMEI, the engine number or the chassis number. That number is what the customer brings back for a warranty claim, what the police ask about, and what proves a unit came from your shop.

Most dealers write these numbers in a register, or not at all. When a customer comes back six months later with a phone and no bill, finding the sale means turning pages for half an hour. If the register is lost, the record is gone. Serial numbers also stop a quieter loss: a counter boy swapping a new unit for an old one. When every sale carries the serial, the unit on the bill is the unit that left. For more on how this trade runs, see our page on electronics and mobile shops.

How the Lots & Serials add-on works

  1. Record: each unit in stock gets its serial: IMEI, engine, chassis, or a field you define.
  2. Sell: at billing, the counter picks the serial being sold. The invoice carries it, and that serial leaves stock.
  3. Search: type any serial and Taajir shows the sale, the customer and the date.
  4. Trade in lots: when you buy a mixed lot, open it as a lot, sell it down over weeks and close it.
  5. Check profit: each lot shows its own profit and loss once units are sold.

A worked example: a lot of 50 phones

A mobile dealer in Rawalpindi buys a lot of 50 used phones at Rs 25,000 each, Rs 1,250,000 in total. Over three weeks he sells 46 of them at different prices, averaging Rs 29,500. The lot report shows:

LineAmount
Sales, 46 phonesRs 1,357,000
Cost of 46 phones at Rs 25,000Rs 1,150,000
Profit so farRs 207,000
Phones still in the lot4, cost Rs 100,000

Now compare it with a second lot of 30 phones he bought the same month. If that lot shows Rs 40,000 of profit on 28 phones sold, he knows which supplier and which kind of lot to buy again. In a single stock register both lots would blend into one average, and the weak lot would hide behind the good one.

Two months later, a customer brings back phone number 17 from the first lot with a fault. The counter types the IMEI, sees the invoice and date of sale, and the warranty question is settled in a minute. The same search helps when the police ask about a stolen phone, or when someone claims he bought a unit from you that you never sold. If the serial is not in your sales, you can show that too.

Who uses it

  • Mobile phone shops and wholesalers tracking IMEI numbers.
  • Motorcycle and vehicle dealers tracking engine and chassis numbers.
  • Generator, solar inverter and appliance dealers who give warranties against a serial.
  • Auto parts and machinery traders who buy in auction lots or containers.

What it costs

Lots & Serials is an add-on that works on either Taajir plan: Rs 2,000 a month, or Rs 11,000 a year with a yearly plan. A single mobile shop on Standard yearly pays Rs 36,000 + Rs 11,000 = Rs 47,000 for the year. Paid monthly, the same is Rs 4,000 + Rs 2,000 = Rs 6,000 a month, or Rs 72,000 a year, so yearly billing saves Rs 25,000. A dealer with a shop and a separate godown needs Business: Rs 50,000 + Rs 11,000 = Rs 61,000 a year. The rest of Taajir, including billing, stock, ledgers and WhatsApp invoices, comes with the plan.
