Month 3 of 5

Node.js course in Punjab

In Month 3 your JavaScript moves from the browser to the server. With Node.js and Express you build the backend that real business software runs on, and connect it to a SQL database.

What you learn
  • What a server does and how Node.js runs JavaScript outside the browser
  • npm, package.json and installing packages
  • Modules: import and export
  • Reading and writing files
  • HTTP basics: requests, responses, status codes
  • Building a REST API with Express
  • Routes, route parameters and query strings
  • Middleware for logging and validation
  • Connecting to a SQL database from Node.js
  • Environment variables and keeping passwords out of code
  • User login with hashed passwords and sessions or tokens
  • Error handling that does not crash the server
  • Testing APIs with an HTTP client
Project this month

A stock tracker for a small godown, built with Node.js, Express and SQL: an API to add products, record stock in and stock out, show current stock per item, and list items that have fallen below their reorder level, with a simple login and a front-end page that uses the API.

Why Node.js matters

Up to now, everything you built lived in one browser. Close that browser on a different computer and the bills are gone. Real business software keeps its data on a server, so a cashier, a manager and an owner can all see the same figures. Node.js lets you write that server in JavaScript, the language you spent Month 2 learning.

It is also the same kind of setup that SaaS and ERP products use behind the scenes: an API that receives requests, checks who is asking, reads or writes a database and sends back a result. Learning it with a business example makes the ideas concrete.

How Month 3 runs

Month 3 covers Node.js and SQL side by side, in person at the AiroxLab office in Bhakkar. Node.js classes start with small scripts that read files and print reports, then move to Express and APIs. Each class ends with practice on your own machine, and each week adds a working piece to the project.

  • Early in the month: Node basics, npm, modules and file handling.
  • Middle: Express, routes, middleware and a first REST API.
  • Later: connecting to SQL, login, error handling and wiring up a front-end page.

Your instructors build business software every day, so the examples reflect how these systems are actually put together: what to check before saving data, how to handle a request that arrives twice, and why a server should never trust what the browser sends.

The stock tracker project

The project is a stock tracker for a small godown. Each product has a name, a unit and a reorder level. Every movement is recorded as stock in or stock out. Suppose rice starts at 0, then 40 bags come in and 25 go out. The API reports current stock as 15 bags. If the reorder level is 20, rice appears on the low-stock list until the next purchase arrives.

You build the API endpoints for products and movements, protect them with a login, and connect a simple front-end page that calls them using the fetch skills from JavaScript. The data lives in a SQL database, which is where the SQL half of the month comes in.

What you should already know

You should be comfortable with the JavaScript from Month 2: functions, arrays, objects, async and await, and fetch. You will also use Git every day, as you did from Month 1. No previous server experience is expected.

What comes next

In Month 4 you take the same JavaScript and Node.js skills to the desktop with Electron.js, building apps that run on a shop's Windows PC. The full course is 5 months at Rs 10,000 per month; see the plan at AiroxLab Academy.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is Node.js hard to learn after JavaScript?

It uses the same language, so the jump is mostly about new ideas: servers, requests and databases. These are taught step by step with one project that grows through the month.

Which framework do you use with Node.js?

Express, a small and widely used framework that makes the basics of APIs easy to see and understand.

Are Node.js and SQL taught in the same month?

Yes. Month 3 covers both, because a backend and its database are always built together in real projects.

Do the classes happen online?

No. AiroxLab Academy classes are in person at the AiroxLab office in Bhakkar, Punjab.
