Selenium automation course in Bhakkar
Selenium lets your code control a real web browser: open pages, fill forms, click buttons and read results. In the second half of Month 4 you use it to test software automatically and to collect data from websites.
- What browser automation is and where it is used
- Setting up Selenium WebDriver with JavaScript and Node.js
- Opening pages and navigating
- Finding elements with CSS selectors and XPath
- Typing into fields, clicking and selecting dropdown options
- Waiting for elements properly instead of fixed delays
- Writing automated tests with assertions
- Testing login forms: correct, wrong and empty inputs
- Taking screenshots when a test fails
- Reading tables and lists from a page
- Saving collected data to CSV
- Respecting site terms and avoiding overloading websites
- Running scripts in headless mode
Two Selenium scripts: a test suite that checks the login and billing screens of your own Month 3 stock tracker (valid login, wrong password, empty fields, adding an item and checking the total), and a script that collects a product price list from a practice website into a CSV file.
Why browser automation is useful
Every time a developer changes billing software, something else might break. Checking every screen by hand after every change is slow, and people skip it. Selenium does that checking for you. You write a script once, and it logs in, adds items and confirms the total is right, in seconds, as often as you like.
The same skill handles boring repeated web tasks. Copying a supplier's price list from a website into a spreadsheet, item by item, can take an afternoon. A Selenium script can open the page, read each row and save the result to a file.
How the Selenium part of Month 4 runs
Selenium follows Electron.js in Month 4, taught in person at the AiroxLab office in Bhakkar. You write Selenium in JavaScript with Node.js, so there is no new language to learn. Classes start with a script that opens a page and reads its title, then build up to filling forms, handling waits and writing proper tests.
A lot of time goes into the part that trips up beginners: timing. Pages load at different speeds, especially on a slow connection. You learn to wait for the right element to appear instead of adding random delays, which is the difference between a test that passes reliably and one that fails for no clear reason. You also learn to keep tests short and readable, so a classmate can understand what each one checks.
- First scripts: open, navigate, find elements, click and type.
- Waits, assertions and organising tests.
- Testing your own apps from earlier months.
- Reading data from pages and saving it to CSV.
The project
The first script tests the login and billing pages of the stock tracker you built with Node.js and SQL. It checks that the right password logs in, a wrong one shows an error and empty fields are rejected. Then it adds 4 items at Rs 250 each and confirms the total shows Rs 1,000. If any check fails, the script saves a screenshot so you can see what went wrong.
The second script visits a practice website made for scraping exercises, reads a product table and writes item names and prices to a CSV file you can open in Excel. You also learn the responsible side of this: reading a site's terms, keeping requests slow and never collecting personal data.
What you should already know
You should be comfortable with JavaScript, async and await, and Node.js from Months 2 and 3, and you should understand HTML and CSS selectors from Month 1. Those selectors are exactly how Selenium finds elements on a page.
What comes next
Month 5 is prompt engineering and AI-assisted development, followed by your final project. If you want to join a coming batch, use the apply form.
Questions people ask
Which language is Selenium taught in?
JavaScript with Node.js, so it builds directly on what you learned in Months 2 and 3.
Is Selenium only for testers?
No. Developers use it to test their own code, and it is also handy for automating repeated tasks in a browser, such as collecting a price list.
Is web scraping allowed?
It depends on the website. The course teaches you to check a site's terms, keep request rates low and avoid personal data. Practice is done on your own apps and on websites made for scraping exercises.
Are Electron and Selenium in the same month?
Yes. Month 4 covers both, with Electron first and Selenium in the second half.
